The Department of Animal and Veterinary Sciences at The University of Vermont (UVM) invites applications for a 9-month tenure-track position beginning at the rank of Assistant Professor in late August of 2018. Preference will be given to applicants with expertise in the areas of animal health or physiology. We interpret these areas broadly, but especially value individuals with the potential for research synergies with existing disciplines and faculty on campus, as well as for cross-disciplinary collaboration, particularly in the areas of Food Systems and One Health, among others.
Candidates should hold a PhD in the animal or veterinary sciences or a closely related area and have a strong research record. Postdoctoral experience is preferred. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a nationally and internationally recognized research program, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, including a required course for majors and an upper level elective in the candidate’s area of expertise, mentor and advise undergraduate and graduate students, and serve the academic and professional communities.

The Department has developed strong collaborative partnerships with the Larner College of
Medicine at UVM, in particular in the research areas of infectious disease, metabolism and
endocrinology, and reproductive physiology. Researchers across UVM's campus have access to core facilities offering genotyping and molecular phenotyping, biomedical imaging such as
electron microscopy and MRI, laboratory animal resources, and bioinformatics and biostatistics.
The University of Vermont is located in Burlington about 90 miles south of Montreal. Burlington is recognized as one of the best small cities in the United States for quality of living, and features year-round outdoor recreation and cultural events. Greater Burlington has a population of approximately 200,000 and enjoys a panoramic setting on Lake Champlain,
